General Terms and Conditions for the Use of the Backgammon.international Online Platform

Backgammon.international is an online backgammon club in which every user may:

  • play backgammon against another user;
  • participate in online backgammon tournaments.

Terms used in these General Terms and Conditions:

  • "Platform": an online-based backgammon service operated by Backgammon.international JSC (EU VAT No: BG206287300);
  • "User" or "Player": any person who has registered to use the services of the platform;
  • "Computer player": a computer program installed on the servers that can play backgammon with other users;
  • "Member": a user who has paid an annual membership fee;
  • "Guest player": a user who is not a member;
  • "Rating": the player’s ELO rating calculated according to the FIBS (First Internet Backgammon Server) formula.

1) These General Terms and Conditions are binding on every registered user.

2) Backgammon.international reserves the right to unilaterally amend these General Terms and Conditions.

3) If, after an amendment to these General Terms and Conditions, the user continues to use the services of the platform, the user is deemed to have accepted the amended General Terms and Conditions.

4) The platform is not a casino. No bets are accepted. No form of wagers between players is offered. Tournaments with prize pools are free for all users, and winning tournament prizes is not linked to any purchase in any way.

Registration

5) Any person wishing to use the services of the platform must register.

6) Any person submitting a registration request is deemed to agree to these General Terms and Conditions.

7) Only natural persons are entitled to register.

8) Backgammon.international reserves the right to terminate a registration without prior notice.

Personal Data Policy

9) Each player may play anonymously using a nickname. Backgammon.international does not require personal data from users.

10) For the purpose of presenting themselves to the community, users may enter additional data at their own discretion. Such additional data will be processed by Backgammon.international JSC for an unlimited period until deleted by the user.

11) The data that may be provided include:

  • first and last name;
  • country;
  • gender;
  • photograph;
  • membership in an offline backgammon club;
  • free text entered by the player;
  • email address.

12) All provided data, except for the email address, are public and visible to other users.

13) The user’s email address is not disclosed to third parties.

14) The email address may be used only for sending messages related to:

  • a link confirming the correctness of the email address;
  • a new password in case of a forgotten password;
  • a notification of expiring membership.

15) Additional personal data are required when submitting the first request for withdrawal of tournament prizes. Such additional data are collected solely for tax purposes and are processed in accordance with applicable tax legislation.

Computer Players

16) Computer players are installed on the Backgammon.international platform.

17) All computer players are public and are clearly identified as such.

18) Computer players:

  • never participate in tournament matches;
  • can play many matches simultaneously with different users;
  • do not refuse game invitations, except when the maximum technical capacity has been reached.

Game Types, Dice Generator

19) Only standard backgammon matches with a doubling cube and the Crawford rule enabled may be played.

20) All played matches are public. Matches are available for viewing and download by club members for a period of at least 14 days after they are played.

21) All dice are generated on the server and transmitted to the players.

22) The club guarantees the randomness of the generated dice.

Rankings, Rating

23) The platform maintains player rankings based on rating and experience.

24) The rating of guest players is considered to be zero.

25) Any match in which both players are members is considered a rated match.

26) Members’ ratings start at 1500.00 and are recalculated after each rated match.

27) Upon renewal of membership, the rating continues from the level reached prior to the expiration of the membership.

Online Tournaments

28) Tournaments on Backgammon.international are free for all players.

29) Prize pools are monetary and are fully sponsored by the club.

30) There are no age restrictions for participation in tournaments.

31) Tournament rules and formats are determined in accordance with the “Tournaments” section.

Wallet

32) Each player profile includes a monetary wallet used to credit won tournament prizes. Accumulated amounts may be withdrawn to a personal PayPal or bank account. Monetary prizes won by minors may be withdrawn to the account of a parent or guardian.

33) The wallet is neither a payment nor a bank account and:

  • cannot be funded by money transfers;
  • cannot be used for payments between players;
  • cannot be used to pay fees to Backgammon.international;
  • cannot be used to pay fees, goods, or services to third parties.

Fees

34) Registration is free of charge.

35) Playing backgammon is free of charge.

36) Participation in tournaments is free of charge.

37) Fees for membership and additional options are charged in accordance with the “Fees” section.

Card Payment Security Policy

38) Users may pay for platform services by card payment.

39) For card payments, the user enters the minimum required payment data. The data are transmitted via a secure encrypted connection to an EU-licensed payment service provider.

40) Backgammon.international does not store any card data. Payments are processed entirely by the payment service provider.

Cookie Policy

41) The platform cannot be used via a web browser but through software installed on the user’s device. The platform software does not use web cookies or any hidden methods for collecting personal data or marketing information.

42) The corporate website uses only anonymous cookies for statistical traffic analysis purposes. Data collected via cookies cannot be used to identify individuals and do not qualify as “personal data” under European and national legislation.

Liability

43) While playing on the platform, players are not allowed to use:

  • computer programs that fully or partially replace human play;
  • software used for move analysis.

44) In case of violation of the above rule, Backgammon.international will immediately deactivate the player. If the violation occurs during tournament matches, legal action will be taken against the player.

45) Backgammon.international shall not be liable when, as a result of a violation of the platform’s functionality, undesirable consequences occur, including the inability to credit tournament prizes.
